After more than half century, Albanian Government will build with 100% state financing Skavica HPP , completing exploitation scheme of Drini Lake Cascade. Skavica construction is a very important step to the energy security increment , reduction of energy import and increment of efficiency and energy production from the other hydropower plants of Cascade. With Albanian Government initiative and EU and BERZH financing , was successfully concluded the study about feasibility of Skavica construction. The main recommendation of study supports the alternative with high dam, 210MW installed power and 915 GWh/year. The positive aspects of this variant are:

Development opportunities for the zone, mainly in employment and tourism

Skavica HPP, just like the other three HPPs of Drini Lake Cascade will be operated by KESH.
