The Minister of Energy and Industry Mr. Damian Gjiknuri  accompanied by Mr Agron Hetoja, the Chief Executive Officer of Korporata Elektroenergjitike Shqiptare (The Albanian Power Corporation), paid a visit to  Vau Deja HPP wherein were closely acquainted with the investments made. During the past three years, in three HPPs of the Drin Cascade, including the central unit of KESH were invested ALL 9.5 billion.

“It is in the framework of all the Albanian energy infrastructure investments with the 3 key elements of generation, transmission and distribution. For the first time in the last year, the three companies of the electricity sector came out with a positive balance and because of this balance all obligations and debts to private hydropower plants were settled and at the same time investments to improve infrastructure are being carried out”, said the Minister Gjiknuri.

Actually, Fierzë quota is currently over 285 meters, which guarantees the continuous supply of electricity. “Also in the coming months we will not have any problem with the production of electricity by Korporata Elektroenergjitike Shqiptare, which is the main generator of electricity in this country. And this is good news, mainly as a result of nature, but on the other hand it should be emphasized the good financial management and good management of the water quota by the Corporation”, emphasized Mr. Gjiknuri.

The Minister Gjiknuri said that all electricity reforms will continue precisely to strengthen the public sector and to create stability to the Albanian consumers regarding the energy supply, but also with more and more stable prices.

Only for the HPP of Vau Deja during the last 3 years, the investments are worth ALL 1.9 billion. At this investment stage there was carried out the asphalting of the dam crown, fencing and reconstruction of the outside territory and rehabilitation of the connecting road between the dams of Qyrsaq and Zadejë; The reconstruction of the dam slope of Zadejë; protection and disposition with mountainous dams of the stream of Gomsiqe and purchase of special machinery for the cleaning of floating debris in the lake of Vau Deja.
